Calm, Soulful Agency

For Your Contemplation

Today’s deadline snuck up on me — that’s the truth. I’ve got a head and a heart full of ideas, and clarity about very little, so I’m offering up the WORDS of wise folks I admire in place of my own.

Then down below, I share a few updates.

What if we break down this capitalist monster that commodifies everyone and everything and sells us all down the river and alienates us — because alienated, isolated, insecure people make such good consumers. Connected, grounded, rooted, soulful people make terrible consumers but great citizens.

What’s Going On

I’m easing back from my few months’ sabbatical, dear friend. I’d been feeling a “strivey” and even resentful energy toward my work, which I took as a clear signal to stop, reflect, and re-set.

During this time I’ve been volunteering at the ReBuilding Center, a return to my salvaged-material art-making ethos. In a couple of weeks I’ll be teaching a mosaic class there, using supplies gleaned from the salvage yard’s own tile department. Happy to report that the class sold out quickly!

I’ve also been re-imagining the Possibilities Lab that I started last winter/spring. The new version will strongly center doing and making, rather than discussing what we might possibly do or make. 🤓 Everything that’s ever moved me closer to soul work, health, and well-being has involved concrete action, regardless of how much I did or didn’t talk about it. So look for more info on that in coming weeks.

Meanwhile, I wish for you lots of outdoor time (if conditions are healthy), rose-smelling slowness, daydreams, dancing, doodles, and connection — to yourSelf, your loved ones, and the natural world.

Drinking in summer,
- Pam

P.S. Renewing my commitment to materials re-use means I don’t plan on having more art reproductions or greeting cards printed. But I’ve got lots in stock right now! Click here if you’d like to peruse what’s in my shop.
